Hair loss. What can you do about it?

At least 50% of women suffer from hair loss during a certain period of her life. It may start with an innocent bad hair day, but if you end up with more hair in your brush than on your head, you should start scratching your ears.

I guess I don’t have to tell you how bad it is to lose your hair. Suddenly you find loose hair all around you, it loses its natural shine and you just don’t get your hair modeled anymore. Slowly but surely you also lose a little bit of your self-confidence.

The causes of hair loss
Hair loss can occur at all ages and has various causes. The most common causes of hair loss in women are:

Too much stress (we women can do some of that)
Vitamin deficiency (e.g. vitamin B) or iron deficiency
Hormone fluctuations (during menopause, but also during your period, for example)
Medicines (such as antacids, blood pressure drugs, cholesterol-lowering drugs and anti-depressants)
Too much vitamin A or care products containing vitamin A (such as care creams)
Genetic predisposition
Which helps against hair loss
Try to pay close attention to your diet and plan an occasional conscious rest for yourself. In addition, an intensive hour of yoga or pilates can greatly relieve stress. Also don’t use too many styling products, use a good brush and don’t dye your hair too often. Sweet potatoes, pumpkin, carrots, spinach and cauliflower are very healthy, but don’t eat too much of them to avoid an excessive intake of vitamin A.
